APPLICATION ENGINEERS – FOR POWER SYSTEMS, VOLTAGE CONTROL AND TAPCHANGERS

Role Summary

  • Application of on-load tapchangers in maintenance, refurbishment and retrofit situations
  • Application of voltage control to power systems and on-load tapchangers
  • Monitoring of power transformers and tapchangers for asset management
  • Cable and line fault passage detection and analysis
  • Control and protection scheme engineering and commissioning

Qualification/Requirements

  • Degree/HND in electrical/electronic engineering, or equivalent
  • To be considered an expert in your field
  • Experience of analysing requirements and specifying substation equipment
  • Experience of practical work in a HV substation environment
  • The ability to communicate well to a good standard of written and verbal English
  • Self-motivated, willing to take the initiative, while being a good team player
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Common SCADA communication protocols: IEC 60870 series, DNP3, IEC 61850
  • A recognised health & safety qualification appropriate to substation working
  • Authorised person for HV substations
